Glynmeddig & The Green Tourism Business Scheme
....Working towards a more sustainable future!
Glynmeddig has succesfully achieved a Silver award with the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
At Glynmeddig we are working to reduce our impact on the environment.
* All our lights are low wattage
* We monitor all our energy use and are making changes to our business as a result
* We are working to reduce our water consumption
* By Summer 2011 solar power will be helping to heat the building & our water
We have developed a series of walks from the bunkhouse door to pose the challenge to our guests - do you really need to get in your car once you are here!? Please do add to our Facebook page under discussions where we are encouraging our guests to post their favourite walks!
The area is great for cycling in and we have comprehensive information in the barn about where you can go on two wheels. If you do not have you own bike then never fear bicycles can be hired and delivered by Bikes and Hikes or our friends at Drover Holidays
Helping our guests to discover the local food is another of our commitments - Brecon, our local town has three local butchers, a fishmonger & grocer open 6 days a week. The town also hosts a farmer's market on the second Saturday of each month .....hopefully that is the weekend you are coming to stay!
Gavin and Vina at Penpont have a wonderful Farm Shop just down the road and of course our local pub The Shoemaker's Arms with good home cooking is included in two of the walks from the bunkhouse door.
